The Occidentalist staff is committed to reporting the truth. We are a dedicated staff who believe in reporting about the best and worst moments at WSH. We want to celebrate West's greatest, proudest moments. We believe in the power of the pen. We believe in preserving social justice through writing and exposing the truth. We believe in recording West's history and informing the public. We want to entertain our readers. We want to educate them, too.
The Occidentalist newspaper and the Occi-online website are produced by West students. Anyone interested in joining our staff can contact the adviser, Karlee Humphry. If you have a story you want us to cover, or would like to write a letter to our editors, please see the links below.
A Note from the Editors
The Occidentalist is the official student produced newspaper of news and information published/produced by WSH newspaper students. The Occidentalist newspaper has been established as a designated public forum for student editors and reporters to inform and educate their readers. As well, it will not be prior-reviewed or restrained by school officials prior to publication or distribution. Advisers may and should coach and discuss content during the writing process. Because school officials do not engage in prior-review, and the content of the Occidentalist media is determined and reflects only the views of the student staff and not school officials or the school itself, its student editorial board and responsible student staff members assume complete legal and financial liability for the content of the publication.
